Fleet Vehicles: Ford Provides Insight On Their All-Electric F-Series
According to Automotive Fleet’s, Lauren Fletcher, group vice president of marketing and sales at Ford, Jim Farley, announced they would be creating electric F series commercial trucks. However, Ford also announced they would also offer an electric-gasoline hybrid F-150 as well.
At the Deutsche Bank Global Automotive Conference, Farley said: “We’re going to be electrifying the F-series – battery electric and hybrid.”
However, this isn’t the first time Ford has discussed electrifying their trucks. Chairman of Ford, Bill Ford, also mentioned the possibility of electrifying a truck down the line. “When it comes to building the best trucks in the world, we never rest. Whether they’re gas, diesel, hybrid – or when the time comes, fully-electric – we will ensure they power the world in a sustainable way.”
In a comment to Work Truck, Emma Bergg from EV Communications for Ford said “On whether we’re working on a battery-electric F-150 and when it might arrive, the answer is yes, we are constantly looking at new ways to better serve our truck customers, from materials to features to propulsion systems.”
Ford has not made any comments yet on the release of the new electric truck.
Beyond that, last year, Ford announced that they would be shifting their focus from sedans and prioritizing 90% of their vehicular portfolio on commercial vehicles by 2020.
